What I Believe
My philosophy of education, stated plainly.
Each of my students is a Legend. Not an aspiration — who they are and what they will be.
Legends is advanced placement for all. Access and opportunity won't be decided by a teacher's limited, fear-based judgment of a child. My scholars get the space to dream about every career and position they could hold in the world. I don't have a stake in whether they choose college or a career — what matters to me is that they understand serving their community and their country is part of that path either way. The problems of this world are what they will inherit. They're up next to help make a more perfect union.
On the purpose of education
My job is to help awaken a child's consciousness. As James Baldwin put it, the purpose of education is to create in a person the ability to look at the world for himself

God gave me this mission, and I take it seriously: making sure my students have what they need intellectually, spiritually, and physically to demand better of the world, and to be ready to build it.
